Brauch Database Systems’ team has been pioneering circulation management and subscription fulfillment software systems for the periodical publishing industry for over three decades, starting in 1971 when Rolf Brauch and Edward Neville founded Brauch & Neville Associates, Ltd. The company became Canada’s largest fulfillment bureau, serving 136 publications and 62 direct-mail organizations. 

In 1984 Rolf sold his interest in the company and founded Brauch Database Systems.  The company’s mission was to develop the first desk-top fulfillment software for Apple’s Macintosh computers. MacSUB was launched in 1987 and was an immediate success. It was licensed by over 200 publishers in the U.S.A., Canada & England, providing circulation management and fulfillment services for over 600 magazines, newsletters and journals.

In 1998 the company launched Affinity, taking fulfillment software to another level by combining fulfillment functionalities with database marketing and data mining capabilities.  Affinity enabled publishers to profile and segment their subscribers to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of new subscription acquisition and retention methods, while also providing intelligence for the marketing efforts of ancillary products.  Affinity was also the first cross-platform system, able to run on both Mac and/or PC computers.
 
Affinity can cost effectively accommodate databases ranging from single publications with a few thousand subscribers, to multi-publications containing millions of subscribers.  Custom web-interfaces enable subscribers to interact with the system to process new subscriptions, renewals, payments and most customer service issues on-line, eliminating the need for a sizeable in-house customer support staff.
