“Wrinkled was not one of the things
I wanted to be when I grew up.“

Photography has been my hobby since I bought my first 35mm SLR camera in 1970. The pictures exhibited here are an eclectic collection of slides I've shot over the last three decades.

From the early eighties until 1992 I used a Minolta 101 with 28mm, 52mm and 200mm lenses. Since then I’ve been using a Minolta Maxxum 7xi with a Tamron 28-200mm lens.

I shoot only slides and started out in 1970 using Kodachrome. Now I occasionally use Fujichrome or Agfachrome, but most often Kodak Elite 400.

Since April 2002 I’ve switched to a Minolta DiMAGE 7, a digital camera equivilant to 28-200 and 5.2 Mega Pixels, so eventually more and more of the material showing up in here will be shot with this camera. The quality difference is evident - due mainly because the scanning process has been eliminated.

I love exploring the ruins of ancient civilizations such as the Mayans in Mexico and the Anasazi of the Southwest United States. I keep a lookout for interesting old barns, doors and doorways, and century old buildings one finds in Europe. Interesting flower arrays and scenery has always captured my interest, and I frequently try to photograph people, birds and animals and I believe I've managed to collect some interesting shots.

You are welcome to browse the Gallery, and visit Travelogues, where you will find a number of down-loadable picture essays. These provide short overviews of places I’ve visited. Enjoy.

You can license my photographs for all kinds of purposes for a nominal fee - please note the identification-number below each photo and visit the Order page.

On the Humor page I’m happy to share a number of cartoons I’ve collected over the years. Please be advised, this section is not for kids and some of you may find some of this material offensive, however I hope you will enjoy them in the spirit they were intended.

Rolf (Wayward) Brauch

The photo above was taken in Austria in September 1993. No, although the beer bottles appear to be in front of me, they’re not mine (just a trick of the telephoto lens). I was actually drinking applejuice from a beer mug, which you can see by my left elbow. Mustn’t let the Austrians think we Canadians are wimps, eh?
